Ircon has introduced a dedicated Multi-Sensor Interface (MSI) for its Modline® 5 series of infrared sensors. The MSI enables users to access configuration and temperature data for up to 12 sensors over plant wide networks and the Internet via an embedded web browser interface.

A NEMA 4X rated, 10.4 inch touch panel color display, Ircon’s MSI comes pre-loaded with graphic screens presenting Modline 5 sensor configuration, status, current temperature, historical trends and temperature alarms. Without any user programming, the unit provides an instant overview of Modline 5 sensors interconnected by an RS485 network.

With its built-in web browser interface, the MSI can be accessed by a remote workstation using Microsoft® Internet Explorer, version 6.0 or higher, to modify sensor setup and to view sensor temperature measurements and trends.

Equipped with a Type II slot for Compact Flash cards, the MSI also offers users the option of storing temperature data in CSV format onto a 128 Mbyte CF card provided with the unit. Compatible with standard spreadsheet software, the CF data can be directly accessed by the web browser.

The Modline 5 MSI provides system integrators with the flexibility to add more advanced connectivity features and adapt the Modline 5 MSI to any plant control strategy. Equipped with separate RS485, RS232, Ethernet and USB communication ports, the MSI can be used to transfer temperature data to a broad range of plant devices, including PCs, PLCs and SCADA systems. Programming software and communication drivers are available to users over the Internet.

Providing a wide selection of optical resolutions from D/75 to D/240 and covering a focusing range from 57mm to infinity, the IP65 rated Modline 5 infrared sensor series extends high accuracy temperature measurement across a real temperature range from 250°C to 3000°C. The sensor is backed by a complete range of accessories that includes mounting brackets, a water-cooling jacket and an air purge.

Ircon specializes in the design, manufacture and marketing of a wide range of industrial, non-contact, temperature measuring instruments. Products include infrared thermometers, line scanning systems, thermal imaging cameras and software, and related accessories. Founded in 1962, over 80,000 Ircon instruments are installed world-wide.

Ircon is an operating company within Spectris plc and is based in Niles, Illinois, USA, with European headquarters in Amersfoort, The Netherlands. Corporate and product information can be found at www.ircon.com.
